About Me
My life’s inspirations have been science, math, and art. Science has given answers to my questions, math has clarified things for me, art has awakened creative curiosity in me, allowing me to look deeper into things, how light is captured, how figures express so much, the everyday life manifested, the “something” that leads us to the search for beauty, comfort, and balance. Light, energy, space, planes, shapes: the balanced composition of these create wonders.
Hello and Welcome. I am Jose C. Rivera, owner of JC Interiors.
I lived in New York for many years. My high school and college courses ranged from chemical engineering to art, design, fashion, and graphic arts. I followed my interests and trusted them to guide me forward. In my early years, went to work in the fashion industry, or “the garment center” as we affectionately called it. As someone who asks questions and likes learning by doing, I wanted to learn how the industry worked from the bottom up and that I did. From catalog houses to design houses, I learned from all. A gypsy at heart, I moved constantly which meant there was always a new space to decorate. That brought me to the world of antiques and collectibles where I continued my passion to learn; especially how furniture, glass and porcelain were made. I was lucky to meet incredibly wonderful, knowledgeable characters who guided and share their knowledge freely. I opened my own antique shop because I loved a good find and wanted to share that love with my clients. When another twist in life brought me to Florida, interior design seemed like a logical next step. By chance I got employed by an amazingly talented designer from whom I quickly learned that this was for me and I have been working in the industry since, learning as I go along, wearing many different hats as I experience the industry from the inside out.
Life thus far has been a wonderful voyage, I have met wonderful illustrators, artists, and designers who continue to inspire me, share their knowledge and wisdom with me, and offer me guidance. My passion for design has allowed me to provide family, friends, and private clients with design concepts that have not only changed the aesthetic look of their spaces, but also have changed the way they live and how they see themselves, contributing in a small but important way to the bigger picture: happy comfortable human beings who act better and help make the world better.
Helping clients re-create their space, to live, use and share with family and friends, has given me lots of joy.
